CONSENT PROJECT ? OUTREACH & ENGAGEMENT OFFICER
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Dublin Rape Crisis Centre is an independent, non-profit organisation
that aims to prevent the harm and heal the trauma of sexual violence.
DRCC are currently developing a new long-term national project to
inform, educate and engage with the public on consent.
To support our new Consent Project, we are now seeking a committed and
talented person to join us as Outreach & Engagement Officer to work
with key stakeholders of the project.
THE PERSON
The person will join DRCC?s small but dynamic and dedicated Consent
Project team and will focus on outreach and engagement with external
stakeholders. This will include survivors of sexual violence as well
as key stakeholders from across civil society, NGOs and experts from
marginalised communities.
A core part of DRCC?s work is supporting survivors of sexual
violence to heal the trauma caused by absence of consent. Survivor?s
voices and lived experiences constitute a vital component of the
Consent Project and will inform campaign development and strategy.
A substantial part of the role will involve working with survivors of
sexual violence in identifying the individualised supports they need
to enable them to be involved in the Consent Project. This will
require establishing a platform of supports which may include
training, workshops, peer support and survivor informed engagement
with the media.
The Consent Project aims to spark a National Conversation on consent
in communities all across Ireland. The Outreach and Engagement officer
will work in partnership with civil society groups to organise a
series of workshops intended to create a safe space to discuss
individual and collective understanding of consent ? digging into
misconceptions, bias, and opinions which are held but often go
unspoken.
We are seeking a person with minimum two years? relevant experience
in working in outreach and stakeholder management. The successful
applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills and a sensitivity
to the trauma of sexual violence. They should possess strong
organisational and project management skills.
THE ROLE
The Outreach and Engagement role will entail relationship management
across two main areas of work:
* Survivor Empowerment ? Working with a diverse group of survivors
of sexual violence to tailor supports that will enable their voices to
be central to the Consent Project. This will include organising
trainings, workshops and peer support and will entail working with
contractors, logistics, and event management.
?
* National Conversation ? Partnering with organisations from
across civil society to organise a series of consent workshops. This
will involve event logistics, relationship management, promotion, on
site attendance of the series and reporting.
The Outreach and Engagement Officer will be a central role in the
upcoming national Consent Project and will be heavily supported across
all areas of work by the Consent Project Manager and other key staff
members within DRCC.
Due to the Consent Project being a new undertaking, it is possible
that this role will develop and the requirements from the successful
applicant may change over the course of the contract.
